ABOUT THE PROJECT
Founded by Noemie, Treasure and Muna, GROUNDED. is an activist book club that aims to provide a community for black queers. We are here to make radical education and action possible.
The idea was birthed when the three friends who met by chance noticed that outside of nightlife, there were very few opportunities to develop lasting connections with other black, queer people.
After a while we noticed that
a) most queer events were nighttime clubbing events, and
b) outside of pride month, there were few places and events where black queers felt fully at home, and even fewer where we could congregate and form a community during the daytime.

And in a city as large as London, making lasting friendships when doubly marginalised can be difficult.GROUNDED. is here to provide a FREE space for black queers 18 and up who are interested in activism, revolutionary work and forming a tight-knit community with like-minded people.
GROUNDED. Is capable of hosting around 15 members; will be completely free for attendees and books and other resources will be provided to them at no extra cost.Our sessions will be a place where we collectively study radical books that cover a range of topics; spanning from class theory to climate justice. Our focus is removing barriers to learning and turning the discussions we have into meaningful action.
GROUNDED. also plans to pair these readings with screenings of radical films and documentaries, in order to facilitate a more rounded comprehension of the texts we will be studying.
All rewards will be sent when the project is fully funded.
