ABOUT THE PROJECT

“In the midst of the chaos that comes with being alive I have experienced tough moments trying to balance a decline in my mental health with showing up everyday, as adulthood demands. This series serves as a reminder to myself, of my ambitions and my consistent refusal to surrender to the hardships life has sent my way.
In the depth of dark shadows, bursts of colour symbolise my unyielding determination to find the flicker of hope, the unwavering spirit that declares, "I will thrive." This life-long/on-going series is a testament to the strength that emerges when confronted with life's challenges, a visual anthem celebrating the tenacity to live fully, even in the face of adversity. The canvas of my journey is far from complete. I must continue to be resilient in moving forward and living life as best as I can, before I die.

My plan is to create ‘Don’t You Want to Live Before You die?’, a project of my personal journey back to good health, developing my practice and exploring mixed media paintings with a short film. I want people to see that it’s okay to struggle, that realistically healing isn’t linear, that there ‘really’ is a light at the end of the tunnel, that it doesn’t always have to end in ending your life.”
